Past Taurus Trims

We will be counting down the trims offered from 1995 to the present. This list will help you to work out which model years had the trim package you are looking for while looking to buy a new used car.

Ford Taurus

In 1995 the Ford Taurus was offered in the following trims. The 1995 Taurus had a V6 engine that was available as a 3.0 liter or a 3.2 liter and came as a GL sedan 4 door, GL wagon 4 door, SE sedan 4 door, LX sedan 4 door, LX wagon 4 door, or a SHO sedan that also had an optional 3.8 liter engine.

There were several changes with the 1996 offered trims the G sedan, GL sedan, GL wagon, LX wagon, and LX sedan were offered with only a 3.0 liter engine and the Taurus SHO sedan cam with a 3.4 liter V8 engine. These trim packages continued in 1997.

In 1998 the G sedan, GL sedan, GL wagon and LX wagon were discontinued and the SE wagon was given a V6, 24 valve, 3.0 liter engine option. The Taurus SHO remained with the same trim offering this year. These trims remained for the 1999 model year.

For the 2000 model year Ford dropped the SHO and added 3 more trim packages making the current trims available to be the LX sedan, SE sedan, SE wagon, SES Sedan, SES wagon and SEL sedan with an optional V6, 24 valve, 3.0 liter engine all coming in 4 door. These trims remained for the 2001 model year.

There were a few changes for 2002. The SES wagon was not offered but a wagon was offered in the SEL trim with the optional V6, 24 valve, 3.0 liter engine. These trims remained available for 2003, and 2004.

For 2005 Ford didn't offer the LX or SES trims but the line up stayed the same otherwise.

For 2006 and 2007 Ford only offered two trim packages for the Taurus the SE sedan and SEL sedan both in 4 door.

In 2008 the Taurus engine was now a 3.5 liter V6 and the Taurus was offered as a SEL Sedan and a Limited Sedan with the option of AWD (All Wheel Drive)

For 2009 a SE trim was added in addition to the two trims for 2008.
