Ford Windstar Trims

Ford manufactured the Windstar for the model years 1995 through 2003. While this minivan was a very popular seller for Ford, it also had many problems. It was plagued with recalls some of them very serious, related to the steering. There was also frequent problems with electrical components like door locks which often had to be replace on a regular basis.

Ford Windstar

The Ford Windstar was Fords replacement for the Aerostar minivan (which continued to be produced through the 1997 model year) and was later (in 2004) replaced by the Freestar.

In 1995 the Windstar was sold as a Cargo Minivan as well as a family minivan. Both came with a V6 engine. The family version of the Windstar was sold with two trims the GL and the LX.

For 1996 a 3.0 liter V6 was offered as an option for the Windstar cargo minivan and the Windstar LX.

In 1997 a base model trim was added to the Windstar lineup to compliment the current two family minivan trims, the GL and LX. This was also the last year for the Aerostar minivan which was replaced by the Windstar.

A new trim was added to the Windstar lineup in 1998, the Windstar Limited had the option of the 3.0 liter V6 engine.

Windstar Second Sliding Door

For 1999 the GL and Limited trim was dropped. Along with the Cargo and LX, two new trims were added the SE and the SEL minivan. The SEL was the first Windstar to have a second sliding door as an option.

In 2000 the Limited was offered once again. This was now the only Windstar offered with the optional second sliding door, this trim also offered the 3.0 liter V6 engine.

A SE Sport Minivan was added in 2001, otherwise the Windstar lineup remained the same. The Sport Minivan was only offered for the one year and was discontinued for the 2002 and later model years. The Windstar trims remained the same for 2002, and 2003 which was the final offering of the Ford Windstar before being replaced by the new Ford Freestar.
